(You will need to download Aleph One from source.bungie.org to use these. Read the instructions that come with it, or the more complete FAQ written by Joshua Bell, for details.)

Notes:

  • Ryan Wilson points out that the original files (the Mac .sit files) work fine on Windows - you just have to download Stuffit Expander for Windows. (The zip files are STILL here - it should save us some email.)

  • Thanks to tom at blastcapacity dot org for the converted/renamed files for A1/SDL - saved us the trouble.

  • The original Marathon files are not compatible with Aleph One; if you don't have a Mac (or even if you do, but don't want to play the original limited version), you can download Raul Bonilla's M1A1 conversion from Fileball or Bungie.org's Archives.
OTHER SITES SERVING SOME OR ALL OF THESE FILES:
COMPLETE SCENARIOS TO DOWNLOAD (Playable as-they-come)
  • Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge (v2.1, Mac OS9, 20.5 mb)
  • Tempus Irae for Aleph One (97.1 mb, comes with TI2: The Lost Levels; there are several addons at the official Tempus Irae website)

  • Easy-to-install zip packages from treelama: these "Unimap" zip files work for both Mac/SDL platforms, include some minor fixes to get startup music to play on the Mac/icons to appear in Windows, and have extra MML included that will one day prevent joining incompatible scenarios online, which should reduce occurances of out-of-sync games. Once you've downloaded these, you just need to drop in a copy of AlephOne.app (on a Mac) or AlephOne.exe (on a Windows PC) to be up and running.

  • Windows SDL One-Click Installers - these have been created by Jorge Salas, and consist of a single executable per package - download, unzip, doubleclick, and play. He's done all the MML tweaking necessary - it doesn't get any easier than this. We'll add to this list as time goes on; it's a matter of bandwidth. (Again, these are WINDOWS-ONLY - please don't grab 'em unless you've got a Windows box. The executable won't run on any other platform.)

At the request of the Aleph One group, all One-Click Installers have been removed from this site. Explanation is here.
MARATHON 2 FOR WINDOWS (original)
Important Note:
This disc is included in .ISO format. It is beyond the scope of this page to walk you through using this format - Google is your friend. (Please don't write about this - we probably won't even answer.) For folks who don't have tools for mounting .ISOs, I found this page, with a link to a tiny, free, unsupported app available from Microsoft that comes with pretty simple instructions (though no auto-setup). I downloaded it, followed the directions to install it, and tested it - it works nicely. That's the limit of our tech support. If the day comes when the linked web page disappears, let us know and we'll try and put up a local copy of the tiny app.

The other thing to keep in mind is that this program needs a serial number to run. If you don't have one, no worries - Coldnose Sloth put together a nifty serial number generator. Go make some..
